Proactive care helps Pablo live his life

PABLO: Optum came into my life at the perfect time. Being a parent and being a husband is extremely busy. Before Optum, I put myself fourth in a lot of situations and kind of just forgetting about my need and my hemophilia needs. My name is Pablo. I was born with hemophilia. I was a spontaneous mutation, so no one in my entire immediate family had it. Optum Infusion Pharmacy did a great job of making me feel right at home.

ROSIE: I met Pablo when he was about six years old. I remember my son coming back from camp and how excited he was to have met another child that had the same condition that he had.

PABLO: So Rosie, being a part of the community, she has a great understanding of the day-to-day struggles of hemophiliacs.

ROSIE: Good to see you.

PABLO: Likewise.

ROSIE: Hemophilia affects not just the person with the condition; it affects the whole family. As a patient liaison at Optum, I'm here to assist all patients with any barriers that they might have, whether it be financial, resources, programs, education.

PABLO: I get a box at my front door, have everything where it needs to be, with my alcohol swaps, my tourniquet, and the medication itself.

ROSIE: Optum has a wonderful care team model that consists of pharmacists, patient care coordinators, benefits experts, and people like myself, patient liaisons, who are here to support the patient.

PABLO: She definitely is great on making sure that those aspects of my life aren't harder than they need to be.

ROSIE: Such a privilege to be able to serve my community and help them navigate not only their condition, not only their bleeding disorder, but their life.

PABLO: Optum, they're helping me put myself first again and helping me put my health first because if I'm not 100% then I wouldn't be able to be 100% for my family.
