Delivering quality health care to U.S. Service Members and Veterans
Optum Serve and Military/Veteran Service Organizations (M/VSOs) have a shared goal of bettering the health and well-being of our Service Members and Veterans. Together, we bring awareness and understanding of the programs we support through the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs (VA) to the Military and Veteran population.
Optum Serve is proud to support several programs to enhance the health care experience for Service Members and Veterans including:
U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command | Military Health System Nurse Advice Line | Reserve Health Readiness Program | Medical Disability Exams |
Telephone Lifestyle Coaching for Veterans | VA Community Care Network | VA Nurse Advice Line
U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command
The United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM) provides physical and mental examinations for applicants to ensure that they are prepared to join our nation's defense team. Optum Serve supports the USMEPCOM by leveraging our provider network of physicians to provide specialty exams to ensure candidates are ready to serve.
Military Health System Nurse Advice Line
The Military Health System Nurse Advice Line helps active duty Service Members, their families and retirees receive and access care 24/7/365. As the primary contractor for this program, Optum Serve helps connect beneficiaries to a nurse or care coordinator within 30 seconds, anywhere, at any time.
Reserve Health Readiness Program
Optum Serve supported the Department of Defense through the Reserve Health Readiness Program. This program provided Reserve and National Guard components with mental and physical exams to ensure they are fit for deployment.
Medical Disability Exams
Optum Serve assists the VA in providing quality compensation and pension exams to Veterans and separating Service Members seeking benefits for service-connected health issues.
Telephone Lifestyle Coaching for Veterans
Optum Serve supported the Veterans Health Administration's Telephone Lifestyle Coaching program, which encouraged U.S. Veterans to take control of their health and engage in healthy behaviors. This custom lifestyle coaching program addressed the following behaviors: striving for a healthy weight, eating wisely, being physically active, managing stress and limiting alcohol.
VA Community Care Network
Optum partners with the VA through its Community Care Network (CCN) as the third-party administrator in Regions 1, 2 and 3. VA CCN provides more than 6 million Veterans with options for receiving quality care in their communities across 36 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
