My 17-year journey with multiple sclerosis
SARAH WOLF: I have been living with multiple sclerosis for 17 years. It's been such a relief to have Optum Specialty Pharmacy. My name is Sarah Wolf. I live in Plover, Wisconsin, with my husband Craig. Management of MS, they always say, is dependent on stress. To relieve stress, I try to exercise as much as I can. When I was 29 and diagnosed with MS, lots of feelings of fear. Getting my drugs, early on, was probably one of the biggest challenges, just because I didn't, I've never had to fill that kind of a drug. My neurologist called the prescription into a local retail pharmacy. Walked in to pick up my medication and they said, oh, we don't fill these kinds of drugs. And it was so terrifying to hear that because I didn't know then where to get my drug. The retail pharmacist then got on the phone and helped me establish a specialty pharmacy mail order, essentially, where my medication would be shipped to my doorstep. It takes 30 seconds on my cell phone to order it. Submit the order, and it shows up the next day. I was doubtful that would happen. It did happen. Anger is now turned into joy. When I opened up the box the first time, there was a huge sense of relief. Tremendous. It was almost like, okay, the healing has begun. Optum Specialty Pharmacy is probably the most important partner I have in the management of my disease. The services they offer, the speed at which they offer it, the thoroughness of it, it is like magic. Healing magic.
